We partnered with the Society of Women Engineers at UVA to host tours of our lab as part of Engineering Futures Day. This event provides ~200 high school students from across Virginia with an in-depth look at what it looks like to be an engineering student at UVA. We gave small groups of 15-20 students a tour of our laboratory and explained how our research addresses challenges in energy and sustainability, and we answered their questions about what chemical engineers do more broadly.
Ethan Fortuna teaches high school students about how the nanoscale structure of heterogeneous catalysts affects the outcome of chemical reactions.
We partnered with the Rodman Scholars at UVA to host tours of our lab as part of UVA's Days on the Lawn. The Rodman Scholars Program is an honors program that recognizes students for their exceptional potential to become tomorrow’s engineering leaders and drive positive change in the world. We gave tours of our lab to high school students admitted as Rodman Scholars during UVA's Days on the Lawn event for admitted students. We gave small groups of 5-10 students a tour of our laboratory, answered their questions about undergraduate research at UVA, and explained how our research addresses challenges in energy and sustainability.
