Our team values and includes undergraduates in cutting-edge research. Interested UVA undergraduates are encouraged to contact Prof. Bates. Please include a current resume and a brief statement of interest (<1 page).

The Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Virginia admits students to the program prior to group selection. If you are interested in joining the group, please apply to the UVA Chemical Engineering graduate program. More information on UVA Chemical Engineering can be found here.

A complete package consists of:

• Curriculum vitae

• A 1-2 page summary of past research

• A 1-page proposal for a specific project you would like to pursue in the group
